My Father's DD214 states the same reason for seperation: Sec III AR 615 362. He was attached with Company A, 293rd Engineer Combat Bn as a Light Machine Gunner (MOS604)during WWII. He was awarded three bronze stars; one for each campaign, Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland Campaign. During this time his first wife was diagnosed with cancer, and was dying. The Army found him in Germany and brought him home (similarly as "Saving Private Ryan movie"). This was the reason for the discharge. During my service time,(Viet Nam) we called it a "hardship discharge".The reason for seperation in box 40 was relayed to me when I requested his service records.
