Re yours (#3415 of 5/31), like the Grunts' Twenty-Third Psalm (Message #3299) an array of scriptures have been "adapted" to apply to military service (and government employent - which is essentially the same; six of one = half a dozen of the other).
Another favorite of these is, "The army (navy, marine corps, etc.), moves in mysterious ways, its blunders to perform." This is amply evidenced in the guy who fires a perfect score (250 x 250) with the service rifle who is then assigned as a cook or admin clerk (the guy who was a master chef is given a rifle and sent up on line despite the fact he wears "Coke bottle" glasses and can't hit the side of a barn from INSIDE the barn)!!!
The marine corps is especially great for this. The guy who speaks German or Japanese like a native is assigned Embassy Duty in England or France and a guy is trained and licensed for vehicles up to sixty tons to operate a .30-calibre machine gun.
Another popular "scripture": "In the beginning there was the word . . . and the word was CHANGED!!!"
