According to the West Point Alumni Association, Robert Evarts Clark, born 3 November 1919 in Connecticut and appointed from Wyoming, was graduated Bachelor of Science 11 June 1941 and commissioned a second lieutenant, Coast Artillery Corps, to rank from the same date. Later transitioned to the Corps of Engineers. Served successively as Intelligence Officer (S-2), Operations Officer (S-3) and Executive Officer, 534th Engineer Regiment (Boat & Shore) in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.
