My father was Pvt.1st. Class Rupert M. Shelley
He was killed Nov. 12 1944
He was in the U.S. Army A.S.No. 14028065
somewhere in Italy
I have attempted to obtain his record. They said it was burned in a fire. However I was given a certified copy of his enlistment date and was told this could be used for legal purposes.
I think..........he was in the 5th Army....
without any records its very hard to find out. He was from Pavo, Georgia.
My Mother and he had divorced , at the date of his deathI was only 13years old.
I understand they are finally going to build a memorial to the WWII vet.
