Good morning, Austin Pelver !
Your granddad would have been in the 34th Infantry Division, which fought in North Africa and Italy from 8 Nov 42 to 2 May 45.
The division was in the following campaigns:
Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Anzio, Rome-Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley.
It had a high casualty rate, with 2,866 killed in action, 11,545 wounded in action and 484 died from wounds, for a casualty rate of right at 100% loss.
