Harold, this is all I can find,but I do not know exactly what it means,but here it is ,word for word in the book I have. Marines from the 31st Replacement Draft were in service troops until a shore party regiment could be formed.In December the 27th Replacement Draft was assigned to the newly organized 5th Shore Party Rgiment along with the Division Pioneer Battalion and the 31st Replacement Draft.Shore party companies were trained to help load the ships of the three transport divisions of the Navy as the arrived in Hilo.5th shore party regiment consisted of;5th Pioneer Battalion,31st Naval Constuction Battalion (Seabees),Detachment,5th Engineer Battalion, Division Band,592d Port Company (Army),Detachment 8th Field Depot,Detachment 5th Motor Transport Battlion, Detachment 5th Service Battalion,Detachment 5th Joint Assault Signal Company,4th and 5th Platoons 5th Military Police Company,27th Replacement Draft, and the 31st Replacement Draft. all under the command of Col. Gally. I do not know what they did or where they did it. hope this will help a little.
