The 1885th Engineer Avaition Battalion was definitely an ARMY unit.
Its AVIATION designation pertains to its role in the construction and repair of runways for use by the AIR FORCE.
It was never a part of the U.S. Air Force.
I can't give any suggestion as to where the 1885th EABN trained. My description of the site at Camp Blanding was a result of your having identified it as his training location.
