Hello Mr. Turner: I've followed your notes to Paula Wells with great interest as I served in the 1885th for about 10 months. We were in the US Air Force. When they moved to Bushnell(FL)Air Force Base they became part of the 3rd Air Force which was headquarted in Tampa. The 1885th trained at March Field and completed their training at Bushnell. I left the 911th Engineer Air Force Headquarters Company at MacDill to join the 1885th in March, 1944. I know of no casualties on Guam, although I believe we lost several men in accidents. As I left the outfit before they went to Okinawa I can't know about casualties there. Wells must have had earlier training at Blanding before he joined the 1885th. Regards, Charles Mullen-still in Tampa
