The Campaign in the Ardennes and Battle of the Bulge are one and the same. Unless you can locate someone who actually witnessed the actions, the bases for awards (his Silver- and Bronze Star) are probably lost to history. Such citations, usually published in Regimental Special Orders, typically read simply , ". . . for gallantry in action (or heroic/meritorious achievement) near * * * * * on (date of action)." Citations - even original recommendations - were intentionally vague, mainly for security reasons.
