Hi John, thanks for replying. I'll have to ask my father if he knew Sgt. Pepe Ramirez and if they may have been on Leyte at the same time. I don't know if my father was at Tacloban (he wasn't in the Army Air Corp, but was into radar/anti-aircraft). I remember my father telling me of how the constant the enemy bombardment was there on Leyte. He also still has shrapnel in his hands. As we grew up, my father used to tell us he knew how much time had passed by how far this one piece of shrapnel had traveled up his hand (we could actually see it underneath his skin). I'm so sorry about your father's passing. I salute him on this Veteran's Day. My father is 82 years old and i'm trying to find out as much about his war experiences as I can before it's too late. He also thinks about his army buddies and would love to find them, so i'm helping him out.
