The " Lucky Bastard Club " was composed of Airman who completed the required number ofmissions to go home. The number of missions varied depending of time period and what unit you served with. An un-official certificate was made by various units and used that name on the certificate. The LBC was a term mainly used by Bomb Groups in the 8th Air Force, even though other Air Forces sometimes had units that made a similar document . I have a number of these certificates in my possession. The 15th AF had a " Citation of Honor" and I have seen early examples from the 8th AF called the same. I own one to a pilot who completed his 25 missions in May 1943 signed by Ira Eaker ( commanding General of the 8th at the time) and it was called the " 8th AF Citation of honor". I also have an equivelent document made by a Bombing Squadron of the US Navy .
