I was beginning to wonder if the 137th existed. I have gone through the goverment but they said that all but a few of my grandfathers records had burned in a fire. I have those and they say he started basic training on June 22, 1944. They said he died outside Belgium on January 8, 1945. This I got from the chaplians letter. How accurate are they about dates and how could I find out more about where he may have been? A man that my dad met said he served with my grandfather and that when they hit the beach he looked over and my grandfather was there and then he wasn't. This is not consistent with what I have read or what the chaplains letter said. They say he was buried in Hamm, Luxembourg. I don't know of any beaches any where that this man could be talking about. Any help would be appreciated.
