For the most part, the history of the battery parallels that of the battalion. Originally 2d Battalion, 89th Coast Artillery (Antiaircraft), an element of District of Columbia National Guard. The regiment was ordered into Federal Service 10 August 1942 at Washington, D. C. Regiment was reorganized and redesignated 89th Antiaircraft Artillery Group 1 September 1943, among changes 2d Battalion was redesignated 392d Antiaircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion (Battery F, 2d Battalion became Battery B of the 392d). Departed San Francisco 12 November 1944, arriving at Oahu, Territory of Hawaii, five days later (89th AAA Group and other former elements remained in the United States). Assigned to base defense, Hickam Army Air Field and remained so until inactivated 15 May 1946. Decorations: none. Honors: American Theater Streamer (without inscription), Asiatic-Pacific Theater Streamer (without inscription) and World War II Victory Streamer.
