884th Platoon U.S. Marine Corp. 1943 San Diego
I have a picture of this troop that my father was in and will be glad to share a copy to anyone who has a relative in the same troop. They were under Sargent R.C. Allred and Corporal R.P. Trook. My Dad was stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC, served in the Pacific from 14 Jan 45 - 31 July 46, participated in the occupation of China, Jan.5,1946-Jun, 25,1946. My Dad became a Corporal in Aug 1946 and was when he got out of the Marines, then he re-enlisted for the Korean War on Feb. 16, 1948. He was involved in the assault and seizure of Inchon, Korea {Sept 15 & 16, 1950}, capture and securing Seoul, Korea {Oct 26, 1950-Dec 12, 1950}, participated in Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin Campaign, Northern Korea {Dec 16, 1950-Nov 17, 1951}, participated in operations against enemy forces in south and central Korea. I have a list of the battalion promotion order when my father became a corporal on Aug 7, 1946, it has a list of everyone who got a promotion, will be glad to share it.My father was born in 1925 in Perryville, Missouri, his name Melvin Geringer, deceased in 1976 in St. Louis, MO. Would love to talk to anyone interested in this troop.
