My Grandfather 'Edward William Best' served in all three services during world war two. Sea, Air & Army. This i believe was quite an achievement. He first served in the Navy before he recieved a letter of transfer to the Army 'by command of their loadships' to increase the strength of the british forces against the Germans. He served a short period in the Airforce based at Foulsham, Norfolk before his full transfer came through to the Army. It is his Navy service i am interested in at the moment and the vessels he trained and sailed on - HMS Royal Arther, HMS Glendower, HMS Collingwood & HMS Victory. He did serve on a Sub also he once told me, but the information is not shown on his service records. All the above vessels are down as being 'old sea' what does this mean??
Any info on any of the vessels or his service in any of the three services greatly recieved Many thanks,
