1st Battalion (Airborne), 507th Infantry (formerly Company A, 507th Parachute Infantry; Company A, 507th Airborne Infantry) currently operates The Airborne School (TAS), which conducts the Basic Airborne Course (BAC) at Fort Benning, Georgia. Very little possibility they're able to provide any historical information, especially on individuals, but Benning is the Army's Airborne Center and websites at < http://www.benning.army.mil/airborne/basic%20airborne%20course/main.htmlhttp://www.benning.army.mil/airborne/basic%20airborne%20course/main.html > and < http://www.benning.army.mil/airborne/http://www.benning.army.mil/airborne/ > feature excellent examples of insignia of active airborne units, including distinctive insigne of 1/507th.
507th was assigned to 17th Airborne Division just prior to your uncle's death. The division's veterans association may be able to assist in locating individuals who served with him:

You can inquire as to the existence and/or status of a regimental veterans association.
"Thunder from Heaven: Story of the 17th Airborne Division, 1943-1945" by Don Raymond Pay (Boots, The Airborne Quarterly, Birmingham, Michigan, 1947) may be of interest. One of those "yearbooks" which proliferated in the years immediately following the war. Long out of print but several publishers - including The Battery Press, Inc. - have done reprintings in recent years. You can borrow a copy via Inter-Library Loan (ILL) through your local public library.
You may also want to request his deceased file. You'll find instructions at Message #2112.
