Greetings, David O'Neal !
I don't have the photograph you are after, but perhaps I can provide a written "picture" of the events surrounding the 351st Infantry Regiment in the period in which Melvin was KIA.
Date: 13 May 44.
"In the southern sector, the 88th Infantry Division
(US II Corps) captures Santa Maria Infante."
2194 Days of War,
An Illustrated Chronology of the Second World War
Compiled by C. Salmaggi and A. Pallavisini,
Barnes & Noble Books, NYNY, publisher, 1977.
Date: 11 May 44.
The 350th IR and 351st IR attacked toward Rome, against very strong German resistance;
12 May 44:
The 351st IR lost a company in the approach to Santa Maria Infante.
15 May 44:
With the Germans in retreat, there was little opposition, and the division took Spigno.
World War II Order of Battle,

Since Melvin was KIA 14 May 44, my account ends here.
One would assume that he died on the drive on
S. Maria Infante.
I will see if there are photos available from several other references. OK ?
