Dear Louie, again: thanks. Re ship crossings I know the information which reffers to the "Marechal Joffre". I already posted a copy of the origin newspaper clipping on my own site. However, the men of the 6th AD like other Divisions crossed on several ships; on the "Marechal Joffre", of course, there were with about 3 Thousend men a main part of the 6th AD. But due to the point-system a big change had taken place so often the former fighting men of an origin Division were at the time-point of repatriation in different Divisons then.
There is a great and very comprehensive web site of the Super Sixth online, you know. And research results I posted on my own site are in any way an addition to that, I hope.
But re my question about the 11th Armored Group I need still information in detail. Hope, it goes on. It seems like I only find out more if seeking for names likeCol. Charles Calvin Higgins, Commander of the 11th Armored Group (West Point graduate from 1923), died in 1968; Captain Marcinkowski and Captain Williams. How could I get (fast ?) information re their personal service records for historical research - destroyed the great fire in 1973 really all possible sources; alo I am not sure if seeking for After Action Reports in the National Archives would bring results because I already asked there for any information re that Armored Group, unfortunately without great success?
