A commercial on-line company calling itself the "American War Library" is apparently stealing on-line work by others, and selling it to unsuspecting users through a subscription service.
I discovered this when I found out that work I had created on WW2 veterans from Webster Parish, LA was found in the AWL library.Although the creation of the database was credited to me, the AWL never asked my permission to use my work, and to date has refused to reply to e-mail asking for an explaination.
Their lack of candor causes me to wonder how much of their work is their original research, and how much of it was stolen!
The fact that they stole my work is unimportant. The fact that they are charging users for access to it without telling them that it is available for free elsewhere is at least immoral, and perhaps even criminal.
Should anyone in this forum decide to use AWL's subscription service, please be aware that you may be contributing to their continued theft of other peoples work.
