Here is the production series (block number) for BOMBER'S MOON.
----42-94795/95022 Ford B-24H-20-FO Liberator--
This tells us that this plane was probably built up at the River Rouge plant near Detroit.
As you can see she was an H Model. The Lib at the USAFM is a D model. The significant outside difference is the nose turret on the newer model. The USAFM plane is called STRAWBERRY B-I-T-C-H and is done up in 'desert pink'.MOON could have been either all silver or OD Green at this time.
There are only three flying examples of the B-24 type left. Two would be similar in appearance to MOON: One flys out of England (DELECTABLE DORIS).The other out of Massachusetts (ALL AMERICAN). The type flown by the CAF is an LB-30 representative of the earlier model. It is called DIAMOND LIL.
I know you will find several excellent reference books on B-24s in the USAFM bookstore.
I also live less than three miles from there.
Dave Berry Note: Genforum would not let me post the actual name of the USAFM aircraft--bad word!
