Thank you for the quick response.I suppose their was a chance that our uncle and your father knew each other. My brother and I hope to visit the Hill one day ourselves.
My Uncle Sam was in the 737th Tank Battalion - 3rd US Army - Company "B".His tank battalion was working with the Infantry in attacking Hill 122.He noticed that some of his unit's fire was being directed near our own infantry men.Apparently the radios were not working and he stopped his fire, left his tank and ran across the field under heavy machine gun and artillery fire to another tank.He jumped on the back of the tank and advised the tank commander to cease fire.He then ran across the field to another tank and had that tank commander cease fire as well. While on the back of the tank he was killed by enemy machine gun fire.He saved the lives of many people. (thanks to 737thtankbattalion.org for the information).
My brother and I are really quite proud of our Uncle and want him to be remembered. It is our hope that the people he saved went on to lead happy and productive lives.God bless my uncle, your father and all of the many brave people who have risked their lives so that we all may be FREE.
Thanks to everyone that has fought for our Freedom.
