Hi, Ashley !
1. Lapel Button = a brass lapel pin which was shaped as an eagle, and which was referred to affectionately as the
"Ruptured Duck". This was not a special award, everyone who passed thru separation received one (except for those charged under AW 107, below).
2. AW 107:
AW = Articles of War
107 = a particular section of the articles, in this
case, it related to lost time due to detention,
military trial etc.
He lost no time under this article.
3. ETO = European Theater of Operation, where he served
his time overseas.
In addition, I identify two ships which carried personnel to Iceland during 1942:
SANTA ELENA
SANTA ROSA.
Both left NY P/E, 30 Apr 42;
arrived Iceland, ? May 42 (probably around the 4th/5th).
There may have been other troop carriers involved, but these are the only ones listed.
I haven't identified his return carrier.
Please feel free to get back to me if needed. OK?
Louie.
