Just wanted to follow up to my original question now that I've done a bit more research.
First, I've found that searching under the word ordinance will work better if spelled correctly and that ordnance is the correct spelling.
So once done, I've discovered that the 417th Ordinance Light Maintenance Company was stationed at Camp Atterbury from 4/14/44 until 7/1/44.Gramps was at Fort Crook Ordnance Depot for E-70 automotive mechanics school "We Keep 'em Rolling." from 27 March 44 to 17 June 44 he then went to Atlanta Ordnance Depot for Rigger & Wrecker from August 12, 1944 to September 22, 1944 so I am assuming he joined the 417th after September but where from there and of what division was the 417th a part? I could sure use some help there. I am beginning to think he left for Europe in December of '44.
I think I have a patch of the 417th which might help, I will dig it up if I can, I remember Gramps showing it to me it was a black Bat or a Raven with a red lightning bolt.
If nothing else the training certificates help to prove that Gramps was no MP....
Any information would be appreciated.Subsequently I don't ask without volunteering, I have the Fort Crook Class List for the 17 June '44 Graduating Class if interested.
