You are correct.
The CA was re-organized back in 1943.
Several former CA personnel ended up individually at the
Field Artillery Training Center at Fort Sill, OK.
I was in basic training there at the time. Infact, my
First Sgt (Adams) came to us from the Bahamas, where his former unit had been inactivated.
Some units were re-designated as AAA units. Your 494th AAA was an example.
Men passing thru our center were assigned to various Field Artillery units, on an as-needed basis.
Many had served in the Aleutian Islands campaign
(2 Jun 42 / 25 Aug 43) prior to rotating back thru
Fort Sill, where they were "re-programed".
