I am looking for anyone who knew my Dad while he was in the Army during WWII. He was drafted in late May or early June, 1942 and served until Dec. 1945. He had been a Barber, worked in a kitchen and finally a MP. He had several Native Americans with him.He had his basic in Camp Crowder, MO and spent some time in TN and in the desert in CA as well as other places in the US. He served some time in England, France and Germany and some other foreign countries.
I don't have any of Dad's info--he's in a nursing home and nearly 96 yrs old with Alzheimers. He served under a Capt. Knight--that's the only officer I remember him talking about. He went to Europe on a boat and said it was a pretty rocky ride as several of the men and nurses got extremely sick on the way over.
Also he told me of an experience when he was in Germany and was told to fight the Germans without any weapons except his night stick--he refused and he finally got weapons for himself as well as his men.
