I have twouncles and two grand-cousins who respectively joined the US Army and Air Force duringthe World War II.
Since I presently have only limited information, mostly in a form of pictures and objects, I would therefore like to update my data … I know that I should have done it when they returned to Canada, but I was much too young then.
Since I speak French and am not familiar with military terms, I don't really know where to start gathering related information. However, I am sending you my personal data on the subject.
1. Gérard LaBrie b.11 feb 1906 in St-Pascal de Kamouraska Qc Canada, d. 4 feb1987 in Fresno USA . Enrolled in US Air Force and lived in Chicago after the war.On a 10 Yuan bill found in my mother's documents, he wrote his name preceded by S/Sgt, July 8 /1944, 14 th Air Force . On the back of a picture my mother wrote «Chine 1941-1944. »
2. Louis Philipe Labrie b.22 apr 1900, d. 31 dec 1970. Enrolled in US Army ?? and lived in Utica, then Albany N.Y until his death in St-Hyacinthe Qc, Canada. We know he served in India during the war as a telegraph operator.
3.Valmore Lapointe b. 1915 and his brother André Lapointe b. 1921 US Air Force «Officier pilote dans l’armée américaine». One of the two brothers was reported dead, october 1943 in Hong Kong during the war. He returned home (Kamouraska area). A funeral was held after the war for the one who never returned. There is evidently a mistaken identity between the two brothers.
I would highly appreciate any information or clues on how and where I can update my data. Is there a list of the french Canadians who joined the US Army during World War II
