Steve
Some two months ago I was assisting someone else re the 293rd of which her father was a member on D-Day, she too was having similar problems to you.
After some delving I was able to tell her that 293rd JASCO was attached to the 6th ESB (6th Engineers Special Brigade)going ashore on Omaha beach in support of the US 29th Infantry Division, her father was carried on to the beach by USLCI 91 but not before the craft had been hit. When her father finally attained the beach he found himself alongside Sergeant Slaughter of the 29th...a man well known to all of us with an interest in the events of D-Day the 6th of June in Normandy.
I will attempt to sort out her e:mail address and make her aware of your current endeavour, I have little doubt that she will be pleased to know of you.
The lady in question is currently endeavouring to assist in sorting out the problems faced by the D-Day Museum in Roanoke, Virginia, with which Bob Slaughter is involved.
Will get back to you as soon as possible, hope this helps.
