My cousins recently sent me many photographs of my late father, William C. Waller, some of which were taken during WWII.
My father was a 1st Lt. serving at least part of his time in the War with the 87th Fighter Squadron, 79th Fighter Group of the Twelfth Air Force in Italy, flying a modified P-47 type plane (modified for recon).
One of the photographs has three gentleman and my father in what appears to be a small musical group or band. The reverse of the pic has a date of January 1945.
The gentlemen are identified in my father's handwriting as:
Lt. Lang (on the accordian) Lt. Loftis/Loftus (on the clarinet) Corporal Rieman/Riemar (he is seated, no instrument shown) and my father on the bass.
I am interested in sending a copy of the photograph to the gentlemen listed above and/or to their families.Or in the alternative, to the historical section for this Squadron or a bonafide researcher of USAAC history.
I am also interested in any stories or history of the above named gentlemen and their little band.
Thank you in advance for your time.
