which belongs to the so-called CHINA MARINES´; among them were the the Royal Riffles of Canada, 1st Battalion from Quebec City as well as The Winnipeg Grenadiers and other brigade staff who sailied with the M.V.Awatea to Hong Kong. A further group of the Royal Riffles travelled on the escort vessel H.M.C.S. Prince Robert. The Canadians arrived in Hong Kong late November 1942. Several hundreds got killed in the last week before the Japanese took over HK; those who survived were made POW.
