WW1 The London Regiment in the Great War 1914 - 1919.
Post Office Rifles raised from Territorials mostly employed by The General Post Office.
1/8th City of London Battalion (Post Office Rifles) The London Regiment. 4th August 1914 at Bunhill Row, London EC: 2nd London Brigade, 1st London Division. Mid August to Bisley, September to Crowborough. 6th November 1914 to 4th London Brigade. 2nd London Division ( became 56th Division) at Abbots Langley near Watford. 18th March 1915 landed at Havre. 11th May 1915 transferred to 140th Brigade, 47th Division. 2nd February 1918 transferred to 174th Brigade, 58th Division absorbing the 2/8th Battalion becoming 8th Battalion. 11th November 1918 in 174th Brigade, 58th Division near Waudignies south of Ath, Belgium.
