Hi Sandra, Sorry it took so long to answer you. I don't know any more about the ship than you do. My brother Arthur was a telegraphist and this was his first ship. His last letter, recieved after the notification of his death, told us he was hoping to get a ship sailing out of Derry on the North Atlantic run and so get home to Newfoundland for leave. It never happened unfortunately. I just recently started tolook for information about the ship and still dont know if there were any survivors. I have been in the UK a few times in the last few years and didn't know about the memorial at Chatam. If I get back I'll go for a visit.I live in St. John's, Newfoundland, now but my family is from Petries, Bay of Islands on the West Coast of the Island. We are now Canadians but during the war were British Citizens and most of the men who joind the Navy went into the British Navy rather than the Canadian. Art joined to get a ticket as a wireless operator so that the could go into the Merchant Servioce after the war. Sorry to talk so much, if youo hear any more about survivors let me know.
