And there lies one of the problems of WWII. Unless you were there you have no idea of the scale of some of the battles. I drive through the Battle of the Bulge area usually on a monthly basis and one of my rest stops is at the U. S. military cemetery in Luxembourg which is right off of the Autobahn near Luxembourg City.
Don't know how many times I have tried to explain to other Americans that the "battle was here' but not 'right here'. Many want to visit the spot where the Battle of the Bulge happened and it comes as a shock that on modern roads you need to drive 'two hours that way' and then 'three hours that way'.... and you have now seen 2 percent of it! And of course they do this at he high spot of summer, not at the end of December when the weather forcast was cold and freezing fog mixed with snow with tomorrow being more of the same.
