Just getting back into research after 6 years of battling brain tumours & I'm stumped. Don'y know if its just me but I desperately need a lead please.
I have stopped dead at my paternal grandparents. They were George Frederick GARDENER & Elizabeth Annie Cox. The only documentation I can find on these two is his death certificate completed by my father & full of inaccuracy and incorrect names, AND George and Nellie's wedding record.
They were married 20/8/1910 in Sth Melbourne (Vic), he list his age as 20 & hers as 18. His parents are listed as William GARDENER (laborer)& Elizabeth Annie COX. Her's as John D McDougall (publican) & Ellen SHANAHAN.
George's address at the time was in Sth Melb and Nellies as the Wayside Inn Sth Melb. I have confirmed that her parents were publicans there and also at the Bull and Mouth Bourke St. Melb. THAT'S IT. That's all I know.
I know where George and Nellie are buried but nothing of help there. My father is their last living child & he knows nothing either & frankly we're both hoping for a breakthrough before one of us kicks the bucket.
Because of my illness & limited moblity I'm pretty much restricted to online research and I can find no record of Ellen SHANAHAN B,D or M. No BDM record for John McDOUGALL.
No "online" records of BDM for either George or Nellie, I found their marriage on a fische when still healthy and got the certificate.
I have checked: BDM Vic & NSW on the govt agency site search. FAMILYSEARCH ------------ -Australia Deaths and Burials, 1816-1980 -Australia, Births and Baptisms, 1792-1981 -Australia, Marriages, 1810-1980 -Australia, Miscellaneous Genealogical Records, 1776-1980 -International Genealogical Index (IGI)
and a few other online sources. Now it could just be me as after two major neorosurgey operations, it isn't what it once was so please if you can give me a kick start I would be most greatful.
