The Old Melbourne Cemetary 1837 - 1922 by Marjorie Morgan - on page 132, it shows that an Alexander Smith (could it be the same Alexander?) purchased a grave site at Elizabeth Street in 1844. The address given was 23 Queensberry St, Carlton.
