Her sister, Bridget Tobin, the eldest of the family was born in 1859, married John Thomas Walsh in 1880. John, who was born inapproximately 1858, was the son of Andrew Walsh and Mary O’Brien Bridget and John lived in Boolarra on the property next to John and Annie Kelleher, they had three daughters Mary Ann and Catherine Ellen born in 1886 and Julia Christina born in 1888.
Tobins’ Liddells’ Walshes’ Kealys’ O’Loughlins,’- Loughnans,’Bolgers,’Lawless’and the Scanlons’ all immigrated from Kilkenny and have inter-married over the generations. These families all lived in the Gippsland area.
Ellen Kealy, aunt of Ellen, Bridget and Maria Tobin, who were the daughters of James Tobin and Mary Keley( Kealy) the three sisters immigrated to Australia in the late 1870s’ under the care of their aunt, Ellen O’Callaghan( Kealy). Ellen Kealy, the daughter of Martin Kealy and Bridget O’Loughlin(O’Loughnan) of Ballygurteen, County Kilkenny had immigrated in the late 1850s’ and had married Patrick O’Callaghan in 1860.
