Hi Patricia, I have just had a look at the Queensland Death indexes and found William John MADDOX's death listed as 15/7/1939(Reg.No.1939/002871)with parents listed as William and Mary Ann JAMES.
The latest Electoral Roll that I am able to find him on is at Emerald, with an address of "Bogantung",which may be a small town or a property.
Iwas correct in my assumption that William MADDOX died in 1918,but had to look at the probate index to get his date of death, which was 15/6/1918.
His death notice published in "The Argus",dated Wednesday,June 19,1918 reads as follows:
MADDOX.-On the 15th June,1918,at the residence of his son-in-law,Mr.Joshua JESSUP,"Tuivatu",32 Dixon Street,Malvern,William MADDOX,late butcher,of Brunswick Street Fitzroy,in his 86th year.(Privately interred 17th.)
Peace ,perfect peace.
Usually when it says privately interred, you are not able to find a funeral notice.
Mary Ann JESSUP died 1933 at Malvern, with the father listed as John TRELOAR and Mary Ann JAMES.(wrong father, but there may not have been anyone to give the correct information).
Mary Anne MADDOX(Nee James) died 5.12.1899 and is buried at Melbourne General Cemetery.
I have scanned notices for Joshua JESSUP,Mary Ann JESSUP and Mary Ann MADDOX,if you E - Mail me privately,I shall gladly send copies of those scans.
