New South Wales, Australia, Registers of Coroners' Inquests, 1796-1942 Name:William John Ripper Williams Birth: 1849 in St. Hillary, Cornwall, England Death:1893 Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia (A plumbob fell on him).
William John [Ripper] Williams was killed in Broken Hill in 1893, and he was 44 years old. The records there are clear because a plumbob was dropped on him - he used to inspect the shorings in the mines for safety. His death caused some consternation because the people, who dropped it on him, obviously were not practicing safe procedures. Unfortunately as the curator for the Mining Accidents Memorial List said, it was in the 'pre-compensation period'.
We know there was an inquest, just wanted more info if possible!
