I am trying to determine the fate of MARIA (or MARY) CUMMINS or CUMMINGS.
I learned recently that three sisters of my Cummins/Cummings family from Co. Carlow, Ireland travelled together and at least ended up in Brisbane in the early 1880s. They were all single when they left Ireland. According to the information I was given, two of the sisters died shortly after arriving. The other one married and had a son who was a Catholic priest. He supposedly visited cousins who were living in Philadelphia USA in the 1950s.
The three sisters were MARIA (or Mary?) b 1863, DELIA b? 1869 and ELIZABETH b 1866; daughters of Patrick Cummins and Mary Walsh.
I have found Elizabeth's deatn and burial in Brisbane in 1886.
Delia married Patrick Dempsey in Brisbane 1890 and had 7 children there that I have found births for in the QLD BMD index. Two died as infants, three were killed as single young men in World War I, and the other two sons moved to Sydney, with only one of the two having one child, a daughter.
I have not been able to find any info on Maria/Mary. I don't know if she married, and therefore have no married surname to search. There is no death record for her as Maria/Mary Cummins/Cummings in Brisbane or New South Wales that I have found.
So did Maria marry and have a family, including a Catholic priest? Or, did Delia have other children? - though from the info I have found on-line, this seems the more doubtful option.
Any help would be appreciated. If you have a connection to these Cummins sisters, I have a significant amount of information to share.
