I saw this request a few days ago and when I was in the Mortlock Library (Adelaide) yesterday I had a look for information re your frederick Packer & Robert Allen.
I have found some basic "stuff" but regret I cannot find any connection between frederick & Robert. By sending what I managed to find, perhaps there might be a "light" for you in the info.Here's what I have:-
ARRIVALS FROM OVERSEAS.
George Packer, labourer from Somerset, aged 23yrs, married, wife Hannah aged 25yrs, son Henry aged 7yrs, Frederick Packer, miner from Somerset aged 13yrs, all arrived in South Australia 3rd december 1865 aboad the "Lincoln" which, according to the passenger list, sailed from "Lincoln".
ANOTHER ARRIVAL FROM OVERSEAS.
Susan Allen, servant from Cambridge aged 15yrs, single, William Allen aged 35yrs, single, Ann, wife, aged 33yrs, Susan 15yrs, daughter, Sarah aged 11yrs, daughter, Elizabeth aged 8yrs, daughter, Jane 6 yrs, son, Walter, son, Edward aged 27yrs, Jane, wife aged 26yrs, Alice aged 8yrs, Agnes 6yrs naomi 4yrs, Alfred, infant all arrived on the same ship.
1. John Murlis Allen, son of Robert Allen aged 54yrs, of Maylands died 16/11/85 at Maylands. Informant not recorded. District Norwood. ref b150 p151
2. Walter Allen, infant died 18/11/57 aboard ship. Cause of death is recorded as "teething". He was buried at sea.
3. Alfred Allen, infant died 23/11/57 during the voyage. He died of diarrhea, and was born at sea.
John Murlis, aged 27yrs, marital status not recorded son of Robert Allen married 24/4/59 to Azabah Lamar Edwards, aged 18yrs, marital status not recorded, at residence of James Jeanes, North Adelaide Dis. Adelaide.
I was aware that I could not see any connection between Frederick and Robert, but hoped I could find something for you.I am hoping the information I have been able to find might help you find a connection.
