I'm in Adelaide and for 12 years I have been offering free research to people all over the world who had family/ancetors who came to South Australia in the 1800's.
I saw your request re the Hannington family and I decided to see if I could find some information for you when I was in the South Australian State Library yesterday.
The following is what I managed to find:-
CHARLES SMITH HANNINGTON born 15th May 1812 and Christened 9th October 1812 in Old Church, Saint Pancras, London, England.Charles Smith was the son of Charles Mepham Hannington and Jane Gates.
Charles Mepham Hannington married Jane Gates 17th February 1800 in St. Bride, Fleet Street, London, England
Charles Smith Hannington married Elizabeth Clarke Gardner 11th August 1836 in Brightheluston Sussex England.
Elizabeth Clarke Gardner was born c1815 and died 1872 in Hurstpierpoint Sussex England
CHILDREN BORN IN ENGLAND TO CHARLES SMITH HANNINGTON & ELIZABETH CLARKE GARDNER.
1. Smth Edward born 1839 in Brighton, Sussex
2. Elizabeth May born 1840 in Brighton, Sussex
3. Samuel born 1841 in Brighton, Sussex.
4. Phillip born 1842 in Brighton Sussex.
5. James born 3rd September 1847 in Hurstpierpoint Essex.
6. May born 1849 in Hurstpierpoint Essex
7. Joseph born 1850 in Hurstpierpoint Essex.
CHARLES SMITH HANNINGTON MARRIED MARTHA PYLE.
Charles Smith Hannington and Martha nee Pyle/Pile arrived in South Australia 1838 ex England.
Martha Pyle born 1815 in Broad Woodkelly Devon England. Her occupation is recorded as a "Fancy Knitter" and her marital status recorded as a widow.
Martha Pyle had s son, Henry born 1854 in Exmouth Devon England.His occupation was a Sailor Naval Reserves.
Martha also had a son named George born 1858 in Exmouth, Devon. His occupation is recorded as a General Labourer
The above is all I managed to find re this family.
Charles Hannington born 1812 in Salisbury, London and died 1855 in Sturt, Adelaide.
