Hmm, Maggie raises more questions now than I had sense to ask her when I has a kid!!
William Neale Tatchell is given on her marriage Cert. as "Father" and her name is given as Bowden-Tachell.
The family had contacts with the Allinghams in Maggie's latter years but I never heard mention of the Tatchells.I was told that they were her employers and that she was under some indenture as "Nanny". The entry as "daughter" on the MCert. is interesting. I thought that was a nicety rather than fact- you know, father of the bride thing and someone to hand over the chattells and give-away the bride... '-)
Bill Jones' family was connected to miners (in Mid-North of SA near Burra, Kapunda, Peterburgh, Moonta) and to farming (Ashbourne, Finniss, Magill).
Maggie is supposed to have had a brother, Charlie Bowden, I have no records of him.The Bowden name was prominent in early SA one of the Colonial Officers was a Bowden- no relation though.
When Sussanah Arrington (?Harrington) died, Maggie was 24 yrs old and living near Moonta Mines, Sth Australia- some fair hike north from Finniss in those days. I guess the burial was left to her husband. A common ground burial suggests that she was not RC or Jewish and was probably a Protestant Christian of some kind.Where was she buried and where did she pass away?
