Hi Sue, Just keep all that Henry and Rosa stuff handy.. Rosa's maiden name was NORRIS/MORRIS...they married 1838 and had there children at Newington, Camberwell, SURREY.
The 1851 census has Henry listed as Harry Harris RIX but on viewing the original copies I think it is Henry possibley Norris RIX....The birth shows Henry Morris RIX.... The 1851 census has Henry snr as a coal merchant,,, I think I found Henry jnr on 1861 census I thought his occupation looked like Carpenter,,,BUT there is a large gap between carpenter and is hard to read,,,,could be cork cutter... The one I think is him is with a Thomas BARRET/BARNET/BENNET (through diff census) noted as grandfather?? but also there is an Ellen PAYNE...all at Newington...Although he is noted as Henry ROSE when looking at the originals the O is not closed and there is a definate "dot" above it,,,which makes me thin it is an "i" not an "o"....It is easy to see how an "se" and "x" could be mistaken in the old writing.
I will try and work out who Thomas and Ellen are.. Kellie
