Hi Wal, Since we last spoke I have obtained more resources,,,including Government Gazettes and Police Gazettes.. They take a while to load as are scanned original documents,,so haven't checked all of them,,,,BUT have found a few things I think connect to your people...
The Jones and Tatchell I mentioned working near each other I think actually worked together (maybe as partners?) I will send that other info later but for now..
In the Vic Gov Gaz 30th April 1857,,,there is unclaimed mail for "Jones and Tatchell" (it is listed just like that with both names together)
Vic Gov Gaz 1865,,,William Tatchell of Brook St, Inglewood, bought 1000 shares in South Trafalgar Mining Company. William Tatchell of Inglewood, bought 250 shares in Bendigo Quartz Mining Company.
There is a few like those above and all through are listed with a Thomas and a Charles TATCHELL. No way of knowing if they are your William,,but these would be the family listed as mining with the Jones.
In SA 1901 there is a horse and cattle brand registered to W N Tatchell.(it is a 4, then an r looking thing then a T)
SA Directory 1876 and 1881, William N Tatchell, vinedresser, Finniss
In the SA Commercial and Trades Directory 1882-1883,William Neal Tatchell, Farmer, Finniss
OK,,,,into google type tatchell~victoriaor tatchell~miningor tatchell~jonesetc
The ~ searches for the first work connected to the second word,,,so makes searching easier.
