William Williams, Convict 1641 was convicted of poaching & assault and sentenced to 14 years transportation by Ruuthin Assizes, Ruthin, Denbighshire, Wales on 15 March 1833.He was assigned tothe Hulks in Portsmouth and in July boarded the convict ship, Isabella that arrived Hobart 13 Nov 1833.He was assigned to Benjamin Berthon,of Cross March.He received Conditional Pardon No. 523 onJune 15, 1842 and Free Pardon 110 on 29 August 1843.He remained in AU until about 1880 and then returned to Denbighshire and lived with his daughter & son-in-law Hannah and Joseph Roberts until his death on 11 May 1890.
William married Alice Parry daughter of John Parry & Margaret Jones at Groesffordd, a 35 acre farm. William & Alice had 4 children: Ann, b. 1827. Hannah, b. 1828, John Williams, b. 1831 and William, b. 26 Sept 1833, my great grandfather who emigrated to USA about 1868. During his years in AU William married and reared many red haired children that he mentioned after his return to Wales but did not identify. I hope to learn more about his AU family.
