Hi, I am still searching for more information on this family, especially clarifying the wife of Jospeh and her full name. A letter one descendent of hers has is signed by a brother of hers we think it is written from a Hugh McGenmy/McGenny to his "dear sister" who seems to be Elizabeth, wife of JBBW Moore but the signiture isn't real readable, would love to find a record or book with their marriage and her last name. Here is part of the letter that I have and am figuring out where the places mentioned in it are and trying to figure out that last name. Thanks for any help and would love to find a cousin or share with anyone interested in this line. Please write if you have informations, wish to share, or if I can help you. I live in the states in Southern Illinois. Priscilla Robertson firstname.lastname@example.org
JOSEPH BARTLETT BALDWIN WRIGHTSON 2 MOORE(WILLIAM HENRY1)1 was born April 1809 in Boston, Mass., and died January 21, 1902 in Noble, Richland County, Illinois. He married ELIZABETH COOPER (not to sure of this last name or may have been two marriages)April 15, 1839 in Tasmania, Australia. She was born Abt. 1810 in Austrailia.
Notes for JOSEPH BARTLETT BALDWIN WRIGHTSON MOORE: NOTES:
I have a copy of his Obituary from the paper, or rather microfilm copy of the Obituary. It states that Joseph Bartlett Baldwin Wrightson Moore died January 21, 1902 at the residence of E.W. Jewett a son-in-law, in Noble IL. Richland CO. Mr. Moore was born in Boston, Mass., in April 1809, educated at Cambridge, Mass. and began life early on the high seas where he remained for 25 years.
He married in Melbourne, Australia, ( I was told since it was Tasmania ?)and accumulated a fortune there. He is survived by five children, four of which survived him,his wife dying in the 70's.He was the son of Sir William Henry Moore, triplett brother to Sir Wrightson and Sir John Moore, English Generals. He leaves four Children, twenty-one grandchildren and six great grandchildren to mourn their loss.
I worded it exactly like the paper printed it. It was the Olney Advocate January 31, 1902, that's Olney IL., Richland Co. and the microfilm was at the college Genealogy part of the library.
According to the death certificate, he lived in Illinois about 12 years when he died which would be right around 1890 which is the year there is a problem with censuses.
