Thank you Robert,
I guess it is a transcription of the baptism record that I have. It is the Geburtsurkunde which was sent to me by the Pfarre of Mühldorf (Pfarramt St Veit). It is not a copy of the original, but the information has been typed onto a form under different headings. It only gives the mother's name - Luzia Lackner, no details about the father. Is this normal, or does it suggest the child was illegitimate? I know I have the right person, as the mother's name is correct, as is the birth date. Also, Mühldorf is only a kilometer or so from Rappersdorf, which is the birthplace my grandfather always gave. He ran away to sea at an early age and ended up in NZ about 1910. I would love to be able to put names and dates to his parents and siblings, but have so far drawn a bit of a blank, as I don't know my way around the Austrian system. I have his father as Vinzenz, mother Luzia, and I believe there were at least a couple of sisters, who used to correspond with him. Maybe an Austrian genealogist might be the answer - any recommendations, anyone??
