Cornelius Simmons, born abt 1897-1898, born in the British West Indies, father Anderson Simmons of Turk Islands, occupation seaman. Cornelius and his wife Phyllys Hendrickson married September 1937, at Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales. They had ten children. Cornelius possibly died in the 1970s (family oral history). There is a death of a Cornelius Simmons in Glamorganshire in 1968.

Did Cornelius die in Wales? Maybe you posted on a Wales message board, asking for help to find his death certificate. His death certificate should give his father and mother's name.
On Ancestry message board (Simmons board), where you posted, no complete answer was found to your question (who are the ancestors of your grandfather Cornelius Simmons). You did get the following information, however. Maybe it can help someone to help you, so I'll add it here:
" At age 21 (b. 1898) a Cornelius Simmons, seaman, Race Afr. Blk, born British West Indies, City Turks Island, arrived July 1919 at the port of St. Albans, Vermont, USA. Foreign [not a US citizen]. Name of nearest relative still residing in town from which he left: Father Anderson [Simmons], Turks Island. " Cornelius next shows up arriving at the port of New York, N.Y. from Southampton, England, Ship Ordune, on 15 Sep 1926, Age 27, place of origin West Indies (colored), 5'6", first finger to 2nd joint left hand missing."

In the 1930 US Census there's a Cornelius Simmonds (with a D) at St. Croix Island, Virgin Islands. Just a thought - that Simmonds could be an alternate spelling in some records.
