Thank you for the quick response. I've never heard stories of buried pirate treasure in San Ignacio. My maternal relatives: Cervantes, Reyes, Cancino, Perez fled from Yucatan during "La Guerra de las Castas" or Caste War when the Maya began massacaring the Spanish settlers and mestizos in Yucatan. They settled in Orange Walk. My maternal great grandmother, Ernestina Cancino is from Sarteneja in the Orange Walk district of Belize. One of my maternal gr-great grandmothers was a Maya Indian. I don't know her name but I do know that her daughter was named Asuncion Perez who eventually married Saturnino Cervantes. Saturnino had children with more than one woman. I'm looking forward to any info. that you can send me. Where do you live? Incidentally, if you live in Belize there are records available from the Catholic church in Orange Walk.
