Sam Skurry Davenport was in partnership with Charles Vaughan (1824 -1903) and Charles Hill Williams in Bahia. in 1853 SS Davenport were agents for the Bank of New South Wales in Bahia. The partnership was dissolved in 1862 when SSD retired. Charles Vaughan subsequently traded as Vaughan and Mackay trading in quicklime, diamonds and dry goods. This partnership was dissolved in 1902 by when CV had long left to live in Manchester.
Charles Vaughan was the son of a merchant C Vaughan who may also have lived in Bahia. If you have any information on him I would be very interested to hear it.
