Wanted to post an update to my original post, I went to the NJ Archives this week and I was able to locate Anthony ZUK/ZUKOW/ZUKOWSKYs both marriage certificates, and the birth certificate of his first daughter.
I assume the marriage certificates were hand-written by the clerk, so the clerk probably tried to spell things phonetically, so I am not sure if the names are correct on the certificates.
1st marriage certificate: name is spelled ZUKOWSKY and he says he is from Russia and his father's last name is Joseph ZUKOWSKY and his mother's maiden name is Mary ZINKOWITCH which probably should end in -WICZ.
daughter's birth certificate: Anthony's name is spelled ZUKOVSKY. Says he is from Russia.
2nd marriage certificate: his name is spelled ZUKOWSKY and he says he is from Russia.
Does anyone have any suggestions where to go from here? I was hoping the certificates would yield me a village or a town that he was from in Russia/Poland, but as you can see, I am still in the same spot I was before.
If you are in the Passaic County area and are familiar with doing research at the local churches, do you know if any of the Russian Orthodox ones (like St. Peter's), will do research for you, or allow you to come and do research? I am hoping church records may reveal more information.
If I have his SSN#, do you know if I will have to provide proof that I am his great-granddaughter to get a copy of his SSN application/forms?
